The Scottsbluff School Board Thursday morning approved a resolution to place a fourteen million dollar bond issue on the general election ballot that will fund renovating the Bluffs Middle School. Earlier this month the board was presented bonding options by Bruce Lafler of Ameritas ranging from nearly $15 million to $17 million, but the board decided to stick to the figure recommended by the Bluffs Middle School Renovation Task Force.
Superintendent Dr. Gary Reynolds says the district still has approximately six million dollars in two other accounts for capital projects that could be used if the renovation costs run over. But he also emphasized the district plans on using those accounts to renovate the elementary schools, including air conditioning at all four schools, six additional classrooms at Westmoor and a library and more storage at Longfellow.
If approved by voters, the bond issue would cost the owner of a $100,000 house $75 a year.
